Astronauts Expoat the Cité de l'Espace

Experience the life of an astronaut! The new exhibition at the Cité de l'Espace will let you enter the extraordinary day-to-day life of an astronaut in orbit around the Earth.

La Cupola à la Cité de l'esapce

Meet the astronauts

The International Space Station (ISS) is a spacecraft that makes an orbit of the Earth every 1h30 at an altitude of 400km with 6 astronauts on board. In a weightless environment everything is different and every simple action has to be reinvented and relearnt.

Space is a very particular environment that affects every function and movement of the body.

In order to get you closer to the life of an astronaut on a space mission it will be the astronauts themselves that guide this exhibition.

Using original facilities they provide evidence of their strange day-to-day existence in space. They will show you their work, their craft and this truly unusual environment.

Cité de l'espace

Under the skin of an astronaut

After a presentation of astronaut training methods, you are plunged into a realistic backdrop that puts you 400km above the Earth as you enter the Space Station, which acts as a home and a laboratory for the astronauts. Thanks to specific experiences you will discover the astonishing living conditions of an astronaut in space, where every action is brand new: washing, eating, working, relaxing...all this and 16 sunsets and sunrises every day!

You can also enjoy the unbeatable view that only astronauts experience from the Space Station every single day: the Earth speeding by at 8km per second, or travelling between Paris and Toulouse in 75 seconds! This will really open your eyes to the true beauty of our living planet.

Come and have fun in these backdrops that will allow you to immerse yourself into Space and take part in experiences that will initiate you into the extraordinary living conditions of an astronaut.
