Along the waterThe Guinguettes

Summer in Toulouse means bright sunshine and lovely terraces. Here, there are no huts on the private beaches of the coast, but rather a welcome return of one of the symbols of French-style conviviality: Guinguettes!

Our favorite pop-up restaurants have stood out their tables for the summer season in some quirky spots. Here are just a few examples of places that let you enjoy the sweet life « à la Toulousaine » that reigns over the city whenever the weather is fine.

From establishments on the banks of the Garonne with uninterrupted views over the city to guinguettes opening in unusual locations, here's a selection of addresses where you can sample the gentle way of life 'à la toulousaine' that reigns in the city when the days get longer.

Guinguettes along the river

The Guinguette de Chouchou is located next to the Garonne river, on the Quai de Tounis, opposite the Prairie des Filtres. A stone's throw from where the French singer Claude Nougaro used to live, this guinguette is the ideal spot for a truly relaxing moment, between brick, river and green spaces.

Just a few steps away, you'll find a lively atmosphere and cuisine at the Turbine guinguette, on the terrace of the EDF Bazacle. This hydro-electric plant, still in operation, is home to a fine gourmet address with an amazing view over the Garonne and its bridges!

Towards the city centre, the guinguette Les Pêcheurs de Sable at Port de la Daurade delights groups and families seeking refreshment beneath its parasols. Here local products treat the guests with tasting menus, brunch, vegan or gluten-free dishes, as well as a musical ambiance every evening.

For freshwater sailors, head for the Horizon guinguette on board a Les Bateaux toulousains barge. Moored at the Quai de la Daurade during the day to enjoy lunch, snacks or aperitifs/tapas, it is a real gourmet cruise along the Garonne that is offered at dinner time, during the 8pm service. Foodies will love this new address, which is none other than the little sister of the Racines guinguette, a healthy and trendy address that has been a hotpsot in Port Viguerie at the foot of the summer Ferris wheel since 2020.

One of the must-visit pop-up restaurants of the summer, Toulouse locals and tourists alike can dip their toes in the sand at La Centrale, a quirky seasonal spot that has opened on Ile du Ramier.

Urban Guinguettes

The Pétanque des Copains is a guinguette opened by four friends, including two Stade Toulousain rugby players: Cyril Baille and Antoine Dupont. With seating for 160 on the esplanade alongside the Jardin des Plantes and quality local produce, it's the place to be this summer when you want to throw the jack!

The Canaille Club, Espace Cobalt's ephemeral guinguette with an indus spirit, lights up its garlands every summer in the Montaudran district. This year, the Canaille Club is in restaurant mode at lunchtime from Tuesday to Friday, and switches to tapas mode in the evening and on Saturdays.

Les Terrasses de l'Atelier has set up shop at the foot of the Pech-David hills. The guinguette designed by the Atelier de l'écharpe restaurant team is the most natural in the pink city. Surrounded by trees, the venue extends over several levels, with indoor and outdoor bars, and a magnificent terrace suspended over the Garonne. A food court atmosphere with several food stalls and drinks served at the table, so you can make the most of the games, the atmosphere and the special children's corner.

A little closer to the stars, the Guinguette de l'Observatoire invites you to its bodega for a tapas menu that's 100% Occitavore... Fresh, local produce and the best view of the city from Pech David hill!.

For a country-style atmosphere north of Toulouse, gourmets can meet at Min-Ou, the guinguette at the Grand Marché Toulouse Occitanie. It's a place with a South-Western feel, where good local produce is accompanied by the tinkling of pétanque balls, for evenings full of sweet treats! Open Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 2am.

Around Toulouse

The Château de Thégra in Balma opens up its park for the summer pop-up ginguette Flon-Flon. On the menu, you'll find a great choice of dishes, both solo and shared, as well as meat, fish and desserts, not forgetting brunch options on Saturdays and Sundays.

L'Union also has a new ephemeral outdoor establishment, Nomad. A real invitation to travel, this place welcomes you in an atypical setting with white sand. Open every day from 6pm to 2am, with DJ entertainment from Thursday to Saturday.

La Guinguette d'Odyssud in Blagnac welcomes you to the heart of the Ritouret park, beside the lake and its huge fountain. The guinguette will set the mood with its after-work DJ and live evening entertainment. And don't forget the gourmets among us, as the Bistrot des Artistes team welcomes us.

In the grounds of the Château d'En-Haut in Cornebarrieu, the « Goguette & Cie » guinguette offers a panoramic view of the Pyrenees and invites you to rediscover the atmosphere of yesteryear over large tables, good wine and songs. Around the château, the various food-trucks serve a range of specialities to delight everyone!
