The only museum devoted to advertising posters in France boasts a chic and high-design setting that has been entirely renovated in the heart of the Saint-Cyprien quarter.
MATOU has gathered together a unique collection of nearly 20,000 advertising posters. This venue for cultural exchanges displays its exceptional archive during 3 or 4 temporary exhibitions a year.
The small exhibition room of around 100m2 devoted to popular poster art highlights some of the finest examples (around thirty posters are on display) and makes them accessible to all.
The museum’s mission is essentially centred on preserving some 200,000 documents (posters, labels, blotters, razor blade packaging) that it holds, including the scandalous poster of Polnareff’s posterior, but also safeguarding 14 creations by Toulouse-Lautrec.
