MUSEE POSTAL DES ANCIENS AMBULANTS DE TOULOUSE
Step aboard an old wagon and you find yourself back in a different age, an era when a letter posted in the evening would arrive the following morning: isn’t it incredible?
This quirky museum is housed within five old postal wagons parked at Toulouse-Raynal railway station. It retraces the history of postal routes (road, rail and air) and of the itinerant postal workers that sorted the mail aboard dedicated train wagons from 1857 to 1994.
The volunteers of the association who manage the museum have gathered together materials, equipment, documents, photos and printouts that show the evolution of the techniques involved.
Every year, the temporary exhibition is updated. It is currently devoted to the role of mail during the war of 1914-1918 and includes, most notably, a fine collection of stamps.
