The Musée Saint-RaymondMuseum of Antiques
Zeus? Apollo? Find your favourite hero! The Musée Saint-Raymond boasts one of the most beautiful collections of Roman sculptures in France. Nearly 1000 pieces recall the way of life of the Celts and the Romans in the area surrounding Toulouse.
A museum of marble sculptures that won’t leave you cold.
Tolosa; 2000 years of history
Housed within a former college from the XVI Century, the Musée Saint-Raymond displays a significant archaeological collection of more than one thousand pieces that retraces the daily lives of the Celts and the Romans in the area surrounding Toulouse.
Situated in a listed monument in the historic city centre, it preserves and displays works from Mediterranean civilisations dating back to Antiquity. An exceptional collection of Roman sculptures, created on the site of the Imperial estate of Chiragan (Martres-Tolosane), is presented here.
You will also appreciate objects that depict the splendour of Tolosa and the Roman province of Narbonnaise.
It is possible to explore the collection of coins made of gold, silver and bronze thanks to an interactive digital app.
In the basement, an exhibition venue and archaeological site, there is a display of sculpted sarcophagi and vestiges excavated from digs: a kiln and part of a cemetery from late Antiquity.
